Our Mission & Community Programs
Established in July 2010 in Saint Jacob and Highland, Illinois, Community Animal Resource Education & Safety Inc (CARES) operates as an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) companion animal welfare organization dedicated to reducing pet homelessness and supporting families in need.
Companion Animal Rescue & Foster
Providing immediate intake triage, veterinary vaccination, microchipping, and foster home placement for stray and abandoned dogs and cats.
Humane Education & Bite Prevention
Delivering safety workshops, responsible pet guardianship seminars, and humane resource education for schools and local neighborhoods.
Community Pet Retention Pantry
Assisting low-income pet owners with emergency pet food, preventative parasite control, and spay/neuter voucher coordination.
Executive Governance & Registered Caretaker

Directing companion animal rescue operations, community safety education programs, veterinary partner relations, and federal 501(c)(3) regulatory compliance.
